Ron Fair’s Next Moves: A&R Gig on ‘The Voice’; Frontline Management Consultancy; Darren Criss Album

The veteran music producer and executive will guide artists signed through the NBC program, while at Irving Azoff’s Frontline, he’ll dispense advice and creative juice as needed. Plus: Fair reveals he’s had “extensive meetings” with the “Glee” star about his forthcoming debut.

On Monday, it was announced that longtime music producer and executive Ron Fair, along with radio veteran Richard Palmese, will join Irving Azoff’s Frontline Management as consultants.

Home to such clients as The Eagles, Christina Aguilera, Maroon 5 and Britney Spears, Fair, the former president of A&M and chairman of Geffen Records, will advise on the A&R and production side while Palmese, who spent more than 35 years as a promotion executive (much of that time working alongside Clive Davis), will handle marketing and promotion. Although both had parted ways with their major label positions several years ago, the moves mark yet another shift away from the music industry’s traditional structure to that of bolder alliances and entrepreneurial initiatives.

Fair also reveals that he’s had “extensive meetings” with Glee star Darren Criss about his debut album for Columbia Records.

As if that is not enough, E! will also be the only place viewers can see Kermit the Frog performing alongside “Glee’s” Darren Criss on Oscar night.

In addition to a special recap of all the nominees to help viewers prepare for the big event, predictions for the big wins of the night, and an insiders look at all the red carpet trends, the Countdown show will feature: three very special guest hosts including Selita Ebanks, Kristin Cavallari and Sarah Hyland; the only performance by Kermit the Frog that day as he performs “Rainbow Connection” with “Glee’s” Darren Criss in celebration of the Oscar-nominated song “Man or Muppet” from “The Muppet Movie”; celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves who will give viewers the latest on the sexy red carpet up-dos; a fashion show with looks inspired by the films “Midnight in Paris,” “My Week with Marilyn” and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” that will show viewers how to integrate each of those looks into their everyday style; and a number of feathered, furry and scaly animals that helped make movie magic last year, including the ‘infamous’ monkey from “The Hangover Part II.”
